Originally, this was just going to be a blog, sharing our adventures as Homesteaders and hopefully inspiring others on their own journeys. Life sure can lead you in all sorts of directions that you never saw coming.
I knew, years ago, that I had a very special connection to this property, and that I was being called to steward this land, not only for my own healing, but to share it’s abundance and beauty with others, so they can be healed from it as well. But I also found myself inexplicably drawn to the world of Flower Farming, and selling cut flowers. These two paths at first seemed at odds to me, and I felt like maybe my draw to selling flowers was greed talking. But I couldn’t shake the desire to sell flowers, and then I started actually researching how much the Pavilion project (See our Vision for the Future page for more context) was going to cost… and realized that I couldn’t take that much money out of my family’s funds. I needed to find outside funding to make this dream happen, but it didn’t feel right to take donations for something that, ultimately, would be my personal property that I will hopefully pass down to my children one day. And then it hit me– I’ll sell flowers in order to SUPPORT the charitable work I’m being called to offer! It’s a win-win-win: I get to fulfill my dream of being a flower farmer, I can provide professional quality, environmentally beneficial flowers to my local community, and we can save all of the profits to put towards building the pavilion and statuary! I am extremely blessed to be a stay at home mom, and I have no intention of paying myself directly from this venture any time soon– certainly not until the pavilion and statuary gardens are complete– so all proceeds truly do go back into the ‘business’, and all profits will be saved up for these large projects.
This year, we’re working on Marketing, getting all of ducks in a row in terms of tax forms, insurance and accounting and all that fun stuff, and really getting a good handle on how many bouquets we’ll be able to provide and when. Next year, 2025 will be our big kick-off (though, if you’d like to buy a one-off bouquet this year, do reach out and let me know!) All of our bouquets this year (other then any one-off sales), will be given away, as we have been doing the last few years. And we will still be committed to giving bouquets away when the opportunity/need arises, even after we begin selling.
I am so excited to see where this adventure takes us. I hope to bring in AA and NA groups, youth groups, refugee groups, and countless others in need of respite, inspiration, and education for free workshops and retreats. I’m picturing growing and cut flower workshops, yoga retreats, meditation workshops, sensory experiences, seasonal celebrations, and so many other opportunities for connection and fulfillment. Plus, we can rent it out for private events, hold bouquet bars and pop-ups in there, and more– the sky is the limit!
I value every customer and purchase that helps make this dream a reality, more than I can express. If you’re thinking about supporting this vision and purchasing flowers, please do reach out. If you have ideas or other ways you’d like to support this work, please reach out with that as well- we can’t do it alone!
